RELIGION

An integral part of our religion curriculum is centered on the mystery of the Blessed Trinity and of Christ as expressed in the 4 Pillars of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.   These 4 Pillars are:

a) The Profession of Faith—Creed

b) The Celebration of the
            Christian Mystery—Sacraments

c) The Life in Christ--Commandments
            and the Moral Life

d) Christian Prayer—Prayer

Using these guidelines in a multi-age

setting fulfills the mission of the Church in our parish school. Using these guidelines in a multi-age setting fulfills the mission of the Church in our parish school.   Educating children to believe what the Creed teaches, to participate in the liturgical and sacramental life of the Church, to live a life of love for God and neighbor, and to pray to the Father through Jesus, His Son, in the Holy Spirit is developing in each child the fullness of their Catholic Faith to be practiced a whole lifetime. By the time a student graduates from St. Boniface he/she will:

•have learned God's message as proclaimed by the Church (Attendance at weekly

liturgies reinforces the proclamations by the celebrant.)

•realize Jesus' presence in prayer and worship (Each morning and evening prayers are said in common)

•plan and participate in prayer services and liturgies. (The students take turns reading at Mass and leading prayers, e.g.the Rosary)

•have prepared for and received the Sacrament of Reconciliation and Eucharist. (These are usually completed in the primary grades.)

•have learned elements of appropriate behavior in Church. (Learning how to be responsive, how to genuflect, how to cantor)

•obtain  knowledge about and appreciation for other Christian and non-Christian faiths (Students use their laptops as the main avenue of research)

•have been introduced and given the opportunity to form a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. (Students learn various forms of prayers)
